The Dutch Textile Commission has been actively promoting the conservation of textiles – in the broadest sense of the word – in both museum and private collections since 1962.

A non-profit organisation (stichting), the Textile Commission focuses on disseminating knowledge about the textile cultural heritage and its conservation. It provides accessible information on current issues and developments in science and in society, communicating with a wide range of specialists and stakeholders. The Textile Commission’s main goal is to foster expertise by transferring and combining knowledge.

Its key activities are:

• the organisation of symposia with specialist lectures twice a year.
• the production of publications, including its yearbook.
